Robbery alert issued for Lakeview East tonight; Unrelated robbery reported in Boystown early Sunday

A robbery alert has been issued for Lakeview East after police determined that two recent hold-ups in the area were likely the work of one man. Meanwhile, an unrelated robbery was reported in the Boystown neighborhood early Sunday.

Police said in their alert that an armed robbery in the 600 block of West Oakdale following the June 30th Pride Parade is probably connected to the attempted robbery of a woman in the 3300 block of North Clifton at 9:24 p.m. Friday night.

In the Oakdale incident, the robber held a handgun to the victim’s face and demanded money around 5:50 p.m., according to the alert. On Friday, a woman was approached from behind, slapped in the face, and thrown to the ground by a man who then searched through her purse, but fled empty-handed.

The offender is a white male with short brown hair who is between 38- and 45-years-old. He stands 5’10” to 6’2” tall and weighs 180 to 190 pounds, according to the alert.

Anyone with information about the offender or the crimes may contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8262 regarding pattern P19-N-184.
