Four people were shot, and another person was critically stabbed in two separate incidents early Saturday near the lakefront in Streeterville, according to police reports. A fifth person was shot in nearby River North.

Police on patrol near the Hubbard Street bar strip reported hearing shots fired at 1:48 a.m. Saturday. Officers found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg near the fire station at 55 West Illinois. The victim told police that he was approached by five men, one of whom pulled out a gun and shot him. A shell casing was found near the 7-Eleven store at 451 North State.

The victim was otherwise uncooperative, police said. His condition was stabilized at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Shortly after 2 a.m., patrol officers told dispatchers that they were going to clear out a large group of people who had congregated on the lakefront bike path in the 600 block of North Lake Shore Drive.

Less than a minute later, a car pulled up to Northwestern with a 25-year-old man who had suffered multiple stab wounds. A witness told police that the attack took place on the lakefront near Ohio Street Beach.

Police said the victim is in critical condition with stab wounds to his neck, chest, abdomen, both arms, and leg. He was said to be uncooperative with officers who continue to search for the exact location where the attack took place.

Then, four people were shot at 2:07 a.m. in the 300 block of East Chicago Avenue near Lakeshore park, police said. Two of the victims were driven to Northwestern in a minivan: a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the buttocks and a 28-year-old man with gunshot wounds to both legs.

Those men told police that they were standing outside of the minivan at 357 East Chicago when they heard shots and saw several vehicles speeding from the area.

Occupants of a silver Toyota Camry that was seen leaving the scene later flagged down an ambulance near State and Cermak. Police said two men in the car suffered gunshot wounds: a 28-year-old man with a graze wound to his head and a 25-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. The younger man was taken to Stroger Hospital, and the older man was taken to Northwestern. Police said their conditions had been stabilized.

At least eight bullet holes were seen in the Camry—two in the window and six in the passenger door.

Chicago police department records show that at least two of the injured men are convicted felons.
