Lincoln Park blotter: DePaul student robbed on campus; Woman home when burglar strikes; More...

Here are some recently-reported incidents in the Lincoln Park neighborhood:

A DePaul student was robbed as she walked on the school’s Lincoln Park campus Tuesday afternoon, according to the university’s public safety office. The woman was walking eastbound in the 900 block of West Belden around 1:20 p.m. when she was confronted by two offenders who were walking in the opposite direction, the school said. One of the offenders grabbed the woman’s cell phone and the two robbers fled in opposite directions. The school did not provide descriptions of the offenders. The robbery took place across the street from the DePaul University Student Center.

A convenience store in the 2200 block of North Lincoln was robbed at gunpoint by two offenders on Thursday afternoon, October 11th. Police said the men demanded cash from the register and were last seen running near the intersection of Belden and Orchard. The offenders were described as two Hispanic men in their late teens who stand about 5’7” tall and weigh about 170 pounds. One man wore a black hoodie with black pants. The other wore a dark hoodie, a white t-shirt, jeans, and black gym shoes that have white soles.

Police said a Lincoln Park woman was in her home when a burglar stole several items on Sunday evening. The victim was not injured. Around 5:50 p.m., the victim reported seeing a man run out of her home’s back door in the 1700 block of West Altgeld. He took a laptop, wallet, and two sets of keys. There was no sign of forced entry into the home. Shortly before the woman reported the burglary, a nearby resident reported that they caught a man trying to climb through an unlocked window of their home.

The victim on Altgeld described the burglar only as a male of unknown race who wore a jacket with the hood up. The other resident, who lives in the 2500 block of North Clybourn, described their would-be intruder as a black male who wore a black hoodie with black pants and “colorful boxer brief underwear.”

No one was injured and no property damage was reported after shots were reportedly fired near Lincoln and Sheffield early Sunday morning. Several callers reported hearing shots fired and one man even told police that the bullets were intended for him.

The man told police he was walking in the 2600 block of North Sheffield around 5:30 a.m. when another man fired two shots in his direction and then walked toward a nearby convenience store. According to a witness, the gunman was a black male who wore a gray hat and a flannel shirt.
