UNFRIENDLY: Thugs Claim Two Victims In Weekend Robberies; Man Beaten With Pole At Belmont Harbor

Well, it is now.
Pleasant nighttime weather brought Wrigleyville and Boystown's notorious street criminals out of their holes this weekend. At least two people fell victim to muggers.

The first robbery came around 4 o'clock Saturday morning at Halsted and Cornelia in Boystown.

According to the victim, three black men kicked and beat him, then took his cash before running away. The victim was treated at Illinois Masonic Medical Center for his injuries. (CPD case HY209793)

Then, around 3:15 Sunday morning, a man reported that two black men wearing all black mugged him near Addison and Racine in Wrigleyville. The two reportedly fled northbound in a black car with the victim's cash and credit cards. (Case number is TBD)

Beat Down At Belmont Harbor

A pleasant evening on the lakefront took an unpleasant turn for many passers-by who witnessed a man getting beaten up by "a gang armed with a pole" at Belmont Harbor Saturday.

911 callers reported a "fight" involving at least five men on the lakefront near Belmont at 7:08PM.

Police arrived 10 minutes later and immediately summoned an ambulance for a victim who suffered serious injuries.

According to witnesses, the offenders—described as three Hispanic men—fled northbound in a white work van with two letters on top and "RCN" written on its side.

The case is recorded as an aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon. That weapon would be the pole.
