Woman Carjacked In Lakeview Parking Lot

Two offenders carjacked a 30-year-old Lakeview woman in a parking lot in the 3100 block of North Lincoln on Saturday evening, police said.

The victim was in her white Acura around 7:30 p.m. when one offender blocked her path and the other ran up to the driver-side window to demand that she exit the vehicle.

Both men entered the car and drove away.

Police said the thieves are two black men in their early 20’s who were wearing white tank tops. Both men pulled their shirts over their faces during the robbery to hide their identity.

Belmont: Baseball Bat Bandits

Lakeview’s robbery-filled weekend ended on a sour note, with yet another mugging being reported this morning at the Belmont Red Line station.

Around 4:20 a.m., two robbers threatened a man with a wooden baseball bat and demanded his valuables, police said. After securing about $200 cash, both offenders fled to the station platform and departed on a train.

Both robbers were black, male, 6-feet tall, thin, and wore black hoodies. One is about 25-years-old, and the other is about 40 with a white beard. The older man wielded the bat, police said.

  1. She should have ran him over. Why get out of your car and risk yourself when you simply press the gas and go. They would not have hesitated so she shouldn't have either.

Now they have her car, her keys, most likely her purse and license, and who knows what other information. I would never give all that up so easily.

  2. She should have just run over the robber blocking her path.

  3. So hard would it be for a cop to stop someone with a bat in October at night. Cubs are out of playoffs now. That's right they are all being fetal, would rather make report then stop possible suspect. Not their fault that's the new norm for Chicago policing. Crime is up across board and arrests are down. Get used to it as it will surely be getting much worse. Your getting exactly the type of criminal justice that you keep voting for. Keep up the good work.

  5. This disgusts me. What if she had an infant or child in the back seat?

  6. She shouldn't have been "flashing" that expensive North Face jacket around. I didn't know they tear that easily either. A true loss all the way around.

  7. All of these stories about robberies at the Hellmont Station are fake news.
Our blessed Alderman Tom Tunney has said on multiple occasions that there are 'always cops around that station'.
    So there, you CWB meanies.
    See. Chicago is great. Yea!!!!

  9. First time I ever got pulled over in Chicago over the course of 8 years......making a left turn outside of the time frame posted on the sign (I left work early so it wasn't my normal schedule returning home.....oh, and cops are no where in sight around there - Bryn Mawr/Western other then prime time to write tickets). Anyway, I had a baseball bat lying on my passenger seat. Cop didn't say a word about it either.

  10. Wonder why train cameras only work when a victim is almost killed and why do they never post it on like WGN so more people can identify the nasty criminals

  11. Hey CWB,love your work, love your suit. A question: the carjacking location is given as "in a parking lot in the 3100 block of North Lincoln". I went up and down that block twice, but didn't see any parking lot. Any way of double-checking that? As a ride-share driver, I try to stay on top of the carjacking situation...

    1. Thank you for your kind words. It's behind the buildings on the east side of the street south of Belmont.

    2. Meaning the parking lot that is accessed from Greenview (behind Siren Salon, etc.) 7:30pm? I'm SO annoyed we get no warnings from our Alderman. And guess what? Ours isn't Tunney. We have Waguespack - I've yet to see his office produce anything helpful to the tiny sliver of his ward that is in Lakeview.
