Lakeview: Doggy Daycare Center Robbed At Gunpoint Friday

Police are investigating the brazen armed robbery of a Lakeview doggy daycare center and pet supply shop this afternoon.

The gunman, armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun, walked into Bark By The Park, 2936 North Clark, just after 4:30 p.m.

He put the gun into the back of a female store worker and ordered her to open the register, police said. No one—and no doggies—were injured.

After securing the store’s cash, the man fled south on Clark Street.

He is described as black, in his 50’s, about 5’8” tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a construction-type vest, glasses, and gray cargo shorts.

Shortly after 5 p.m., a message was posted to the store's Facebook page saying that it would close for the remainder of the day due to an incident.

  1. Brazen? More like business as usual these days.

And a construction vest, huh? Wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the workers from the nearby Broadway paving project. These contractors are not known for hiring well to do individuals.

    1. This is small potatoes and desperation probably done by a parolee. But, these stores have to stop carrying cash. It's very simple. Put a sign on the door "credit card payments ONLY".
I remember decades ago when busses and drives had to take cash payments to ride the bus and the drivers had to make change. This was back in the 1950s, 1960s, and so many drivers got robbed and killed....the cities changed to tokens. The drivers no longer carried cash. (besides, some of them were stealing). But the point is this is 2017, not 1957. Don't accept cash.

"Desperation" No. It's a felony. A serious one. And here's another bit of reality for you: If the stores stop carrying cash, that means they'll simply rob the clerks and customers of their phones and cash. Also, do you realize that by not accepting cash, the stores will add a 3% mark-up on everything to cover the cost of credit card transactions? Do you want to pay 3% for "desperation" avoidance? No thanks.

Here's a simple answer: Stop robbing people at gunpoint. There. That's an easy fix and it's the right thing to do, too. Nifty.

    3. This "Lianna" person ALWAYS has an asinine solution that negatively impacts law-abiding citizens. She is the same genius who thought banning spray paint would stop graffiti and who thought closing restaurants and bars early would stop crime.

    4. If Lianna felt the muzzle of a gun in her ribs she may feel, differently about thos small potatoes.

  5. This should motivate many leftists to flee their own shit. They'll tolerate rape, murder, even harm to children--but not harm to their dogs.

    1. No. They voted for this shit until we are all up to our necks in it. They should be made to swim in it now.

  6. Coalitions against crime don't happen because of fear of reprisal by the thugs.
Best solution identify the soft judges and vote them out. Vet and support candidates who will do the right thing. Offer rehab in jail, work programs, basic Ed in jail, and all serve full sentences. Stay out of jail that shows good behavior.
