COPS: Streeterville Apartment Raid Nets $170,000 In Pot And Crack—Suspect Claims To Be "Accountant"

Brandon West (inset) is charged with a series of Class X felonies after a raid on his Streeterville apartment.
Finding party drugs may be just a little more difficult tonight after Chicago police raided a Streeterville high-rise apartment on Thursday morning.

A 23-year-old man who claimed to be “just an accountant” is in custody, police said.

Officers raided Brandon K. West’s 36th-floor apartment in the 400 block of North McClurg at 9:45 a.m. yesterday. They detained West and started searching his unit.

Cops say they recovered 35 pounds of weed and liquid THC worth $158,550 inside two bedroom safes. Also recovered were 1.5 pounds of suspected crack cocaine; 72 suspected ecstasy pills; and two liters of suspect Codeine along with three loaded handguns, $12,162 cash, three scales, and a currency counter, police said.

Prosecutors today charged West with Class X felony manufacture-delivery of over 5000 grams of cannabis; Class X felony manufacture-delivery of cocaine or an analog; Class X manufacture-delivery of ecstasy; and felony manufacture-delivery with intent. A judge this afternoon ordered him held without bond.

  7. Guys screwed! It's funny how when your younger, you think your gonna be the next Pablo Escobar and never get caught. The saying stays true over the years. Pigs grow fat, and hogs get slaughtered. Moral of the story....don't try to blow up and be a hog. Stay low under radar and don't get too greedy!!! It's weird how getting older wises you up a lot.

  8. The nerve of that "Judge" not to let him go on bond. This is just a poor working stiff trying to make ends meet. I am sure if he tossed a new born baby out the 36th floor window he would have been let go and after court he would be given 4 months probation. Remember - this is Cook County.

  9. There are all new bond court judges on the bench this Monday to set new and improved affordable bonds. Sleep well.

  11. Three loaded firearms....A clear and present danger to life and limb of neighbors unfortunate enough to be caught in dispute with "customers." Bullets penetrate most interior apartment walls

  12. I wonder what would happen if you search Northwestern campus and the student there? Where do they get the weed and ecstasy from?

  14. I know this young man and he is unfortunately, a product of his upbringing. If Mom and Dad raised him in that lifestyle, he was conditioned to follow suit. Only a very select few are able to beat that challenge.
Rather than condemn him, I choose to just pray for him and hope that he can learn to live a "normal" life once he serves his time. Just know this, many of those who make judgemental comments are those with not-so-clean pasts themselves. Ijs

    1. I'll buy the "lousy family / lousy culture" argument. For about a minute.
Young Brandon is obviously smart enough to do plenty...but he can't make basic moral decisions? And he can't figure out that the rules that apply to everybody else will (eventually) apply to him.
Pray for him all you want. Im really sure that'll help.

  20. It's a shame everyone blaming him but if you followed his Snapchat notice his older brother Tyler West condoned everything he did. He never led his brother in the right direction but be the main person in his passenger seat. It's a shame on his entire family for letting this young man do what he did. If you can't do the time don't do the crime.

  22. I used to live next to Brandon and he's definitely not a great guy but hes also not a murderer or rapist. I find it funny a bitch gets out on bond for throwin a baby out a window but Brandon gets denied bond lol what a joke. I wish you the best Brandon but unfortunately you are no doubt getting life without parole. Drug crime is way worse than murder in the good ole USA.

  23. They definitely knew he wasn't an accountant because an accountant probably couldn't afford to live in a nice place in Streeterville.

  26. Hmm. His family has nothing to do with decisions he has made for himself. He is a grown man. He was raised and that is that. You can't tell other grown people what to do. He made the bed now he must lay in it. His parents did whatever they wanted too. May not have been the right things but everybody makes mistakes. Life doesn't stop there. He gone be just fine.
    Thanks tho

  27. Notice his brother Tyler West is wearing all his brothers stuff now that he's locked up. Tyler birthday just passed this weekend and he was wearing Brandon watch, driving his car, and living in his apartment. This shows you his brother was never a role model and only cares for himself at the end of the day. What a horrible way to carry yourself especially when your brother might face true jail time. Just shows you Brandon family never cared about him.
