Three Women Robbed In Three Incidents Across Lakeview Overnight

The good news is that two juvenile robbery offenders were arrested after mugging a woman late last night near the Southport Corridor. (Full info HERE.)

The bad news is that two more women were robbed in the hours after the arrests—one in Wrigleyville and the other near the Diversey Brown Line station.

Here’s what we know:

Around 1:40 a.m. two men and a woman armed with a handgun robbed a woman near Agassiz Elementary School in the 2800 block of North Seminary. The offenders then fled southbound toward Diversey, police said.

The robbers are described as two young black men and a black woman who wore a camouflage sweatsuit.

Another woman was robbed near the intersection of Sheffield and Addison.
About an hour later, another woman was attacked and robbed near Wrigley Field. A witness reported seeing two men attack the woman near Addison and Sheffield before running away at 2:45 a.m.

The offenders took the woman’s purse, wallet, and shoes, police said.

Both robbers are black men in their late teens or early 20’s. One has white hair and stands about 5’7” tall. The other is about 6-feet tall and wore a blue shirt.

The Wrigleyville victim was treated and released from Thorek Hospital.

  1. Robbing a woman of her shoes too? That alone should be cause for the death penalty.

There seems to be a pattern in the last few months of armed robberies with female victims. As a female in the Lakeview neighborhood, about a block from this incident near Agassiz Elementary, I'm beginning to feel helpless. I've heard this is a result of the police force being more heavily stationed in the south side, and thus encouraging criminals to terrorize more freely in the northern neighborhoods. Does anyone know if there's any truth to that?

  3. I believe there is truth to that! A couple of years ago I remember hearing they took many police officers and detectives from the Belmont & Western station and Halsted station, leaving us northsiders with barely any cops! Since then crime is rampant on the north side. They barely get their hands smacked, IF THEY ARE CAUGHT, so they keep committing crimes! It's both frightening and frustrating!!!

  4. I'd like to see more cameras put up. Not just by City but by private businesses, schools, residents. I just put one on my house, they're pretty inexpensive now.

  5. I think it's time to move when you can't even walk one of America's nicer urban neighborhoods without being mugged.
