Three Robberies In Lakeview On Sunday, Cops Say

Cops are investigating three robberies reported yesterday in Lakeview, including two that appear to involve the same armed offenders.

• The Walgreens at 3046 North Halsted was the target of an attempted armed robbery around 11:30 Sunday night. Two men walked in and pulled a gun on the clerk, but the robbers suddenly stopped in the middle of the hold-up and fled.

The gunman, armed with a blue steel pistol, is black, in his early- to mid-20’s, and he stands about 5’8” tall. He has a tattoo under his right eye, wore earrings, and was dressed in all black clothing. His accomplice, also black, stands about 6’1” tall and has shoulder-length dreads that may have some orange coloring.

• The same two men are believed to have robbed the 7-Eleven store at 958 West Diversey around 11:50 last night. The gunman entered the store, displayed his weapon, and took cash from the register while the other man served as the look-out.  After taking about $200, the men ran northbound on Sheffield.

• In an unrelated incident, a woman was jumped and robbed of her Marc Jacobs purse around 2:45 a.m. Sunday in the 3200 block of North Kenmore.

She described the attackers as a skinny, young black man who was in the company of a man who was dressed as a woman. Both offenders were last seen running northbound in the alley between Kenmore and Seminary, police said.
