A 21-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot eight times in Uptown on Tuesday night. He is the third person to be shot in that neighborhood since last Thursday.

Police said the man was standing in the 4500 block of North Clarendon when shots rang out around 9:35 p.m. He found his way to nearby Weiss Hospital, but they transferred him to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center due to the severity of his wounds.

Last night's gunman is described as a black man in his 20’s who was wearing a pink or orange hat, a royal blue shirt, and blue jeans with green and white plaid boxer shorts.

Cops are following several strong leads this morning, and multiple sources stated that the shooting is likely related to another shooting last Thursday outside the Uptown McDonald’s, 1004 West Wilson.

The McDonald's victim is a documented gang member, convicted felon, and drug dealer who is known to the neighborhood, according to a source.

  1. uptown will never get better

    1. 2005 - "You should buy in Uptown, it's really turning around" (my gay friend)

2006 - "My friends have their condo for sale and can't wait to get out of Uptown". (my gay fried)

2009 - "We finally sold that place and can get the hell out of there!" (my gay friend's gay friends"

This gay man knew Uptown had alot more spinning to do even way back then and wouldn't have even pitched a tent or rented there.

And now for the next episode of As Uptown Turns.....

  2. I lived in Uptown for nearly 3 years and was about to buy, but the huge property tax increase and the uncertainty of more tax increases made me decide otherwise. The corruption and crime were only peripheral reasons for my decision but enough to finally prompt me to leave Chicago and the entire state of Illinois for good. Hello from sunny Florida, suckers!
