5 Years For Molesting Woman Near Boystown Fitness Club

Boykin (inset) pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman near Lakeview Athletic Club | Ill Dept Corrections; Google
A 34-year-old man from the Austin neighborhood received a 5-year prison sentence this week after pleading guilty to molesting a woman as she walked near a popular Boystown gym.

Nicholas Boykin and two other men got off of a bus near Belmont and Broadway and then followed their victim for a short distance before groping and molesting her outside of Lakeview Athletic Club, 3212 North Broadway, at 6:20 a.m. on March 8, 2016, prosecutors said.

All three men ran west through an alley that runs alongside the gym and Boykin was arrested a short distance away.

The other two men were never located.

They were described as an unknown white man and a black man who stands about 6-feet tall and weighs about 190 pounds. He wore a black hoodie, a blue vest, blue jeans, and gray, white, and blue gym shoes. The second man and Boykin were captured on surveillance video near the gym, police said at the time.

Boykin was given four 7-year sentences after he pleaded guilty to four robberies in 2008. But the judge allowed him to serve those sentences concurrently, so Boykin was only in prison for a fraction of the time.

Boykin will be paroled (again) on August 31, 2018.

  1. 5 years?!! This just sickens me but I expect more light sentences in the coming years as the State and County claim there is no money to keep people incarcerated.

  3. no money? bring back death penality to empty out jails. Some how California does it with 3 strikes your out laws. We need 3 strikes your out and death penality brought back if we dont have enough money. If they are locked up for 3 times life it would reduce state city fees for 4 nd more court cases save the city lots of money just throw away the key

    1. I agree, after your third horrible grammatical error I stopped reading what you wrote. You're out. Also I'd suggest you research the cost of the death penalty vs life imprisonment.

  4. The income tax in California is much higher than in Chicago. Many people in California pay twice as much as Illinois taxpayers, and if you are very well paid - over a million dollars per year - you pay 3x what an Illinois taxpayer pays. Time to raise taxes here, at least on the high earners.

    1. Great plan. Raise everybody's taxes except mine. The same 1968 classist goo that got us into the current mess.
Checked into the number of millionaires & businesses leaving Illinois, recently? Looked at any business climate comparisons (the ones that include education and technical training)?
You happy about the current administration?
Congrats. This is part of the failed 'doctrine' that helped put him there.

  5. 3 strikes law, sure it wouldn't hurt, but how about he has to be molested at high noon, publicly at Daley plaza, so everyone can see it as part of his sentencing. Maybe that would be a deterrent to him and many others from committing these kinds of crimes.
