Cops: Threesome Arrested Near Sheridan Red Line Station Had Pellet Guns...And THIRTEEN Cellphones

Pearson (top) and the Wolkows | Chicago Police Dept
Here's one heck of a coincidence.

So, yesterday, two "kids" robbed a guy of his phone near the Sheridan Red Line station. When the victim chased after the thieves, they spun around and shot him in the forehead with what proved to be a BB gun.

Now, get this: Just a couple of days earlier, cops arrested three people near the Sheridan Red Line for shooting pellet guns at cars. Cops say they found at least thirteen cell phones of various makes and models in the trio's possession.

Now, what are the odds of that?

Police went to the 4000 block of North Sheridan around 11:30 p.m. Monday after witnesses reported seeing three people shooting pellet guns at parked cars.

Officers said they saw three people walking away from an area where three vehicles sat with shattered windows.

20-year-old Dontae Pearson of the Oakland neighborhood had 13 cell phones in a backpack, according to court records. He also had a bag of BBs and a pellet gun, prosecutors said.

He’s charged with possession of a replica firearm, theft of lost or mislaid property, criminal damage to property, and reckless conduct. He is currently on probation after pleading guilty to a residential burglary this summer.

Thomas Wolkow, 22, faces the same charges as Pearson.

His sister, Sarah Wolkow, is charged with reckless conduct,

The Wolkows listed the Howard Brown Health Center at 4025 N. Sheridan as their “home.”

Just imagine what might happen if detectives would take a few hours to track down the owners of those phones. They may find some activity that's a lot more serious than theft of "lost or mislaid" property

  1. If Illinois and Chicago weren't so wussy-pussy about "Stop and Frisk," these sorts of things might get reduced way down in frequency. Thirteen cell phones ... staggering. Lots of evidence there with the BB pellets, phones, etc., but some namby-pamby judge will slap them on the wrist and turn them back on the streets to continue their reign of havoc. Side note: these three deserved to be arrested based on the idiotic "hair styles" alone.

Ahh, Lakeview. Come for the social services, stay for the target-rich neighborhood.

    1. Wherever you have a neighborhood with a high Social Services network (Salvation army, churches with shelter, AIDS healthcare) you have a higher incident of crimes. If you go to the far northwest side (Jefferson part, Norridge) you won't find those services, thus you have lower crimes.

  3. But the COH would never harbor known criminals!

  4. It does not matter, folks. There is no jail time or punishments for crime in Chicago. It's Mad Max out there. Already on probation, they will be given a ticket to return to court in about 4 months where someone will tell them they have done a good job staying out of trouble and they will return to somehow living in a doctors office even though they live in a house on the other side of the city.

  5. These are the kind of scum that Preckwinkle wants to reward by giving them jobs. Only Democrats can be stupid enough to think it makes sense to provide jobs for high school dropouts with criminal records. Democrats seem to be too ignorant of human behavior to realize that will make all kids want to drop out of high school and be criminals...because they will be rewarded with a job by doing so.

  6. How do they continue to allow criminals to use them as their home address? If you had a spree of crimes in Miami and found out that the criminals listed their address as the same Burger King, you would probably have the FBI investigating why the establishment allows people to use them to lie about residency. Even getting my last drivers license address changed, I had to even bring a utility bill along with my least to prove my address.

  7. Sounds like all those services offered at Howard Brown are really making a positive impact on these heaping piles of excrement, assuming they've ever set foot inside. Such a popular thing to do, list one of the neighborhood shelters/counseling centers as your primary residence. Guess it probably helps with junk mail.

  8. TOTAL BULLSHIT!!!
Why is the city of Chicago allowing these and so many other repeat criminals to terrorize us?? Imagine the huge drop in crime and the regaining of sanity and reputation of this city if only these punks and thugs would be put away for a long time never mind at all. This city just continues to shoot itself in the foot. Do the right thing already by:
    1) having enough cops to catch these criminals in the first place (and deter crime by more presence)
    2) charging the criminals with their real crime (not "lost or mislaid property" when it so clearly is outright theft)
3)giving appropriate sentences not dropping charges or releasing them on short probation only to see them out thugging again later that day
    4) actually sentencing them with hard time in prison, and
    5) having them serve their complete sentence not less than half of it
My God. This is all so quickly solvable. Even the new Superintendent Eddie Johnson said there are really only about 900 and some people perpetrating major crime in Chicago. I imagine he meant gun and drug crimes (?) but these "lesser" criminals...tho not sure if the guy hit in the forehead would call it lesser...need to be seriously dealt with when caught or else they will only grow to replace the serious ones. Again, not that so many of the things we read on here are not also very serious!
Exhausted and pissed! Vote out the leaders who support this and try completely new ones. How could it get worse?

    1. How could it get worse? How about half the population believing they deserve to be victimized in the name of social justice.

    2. It's not the City of Chicago -- it's COOK COUNTY Judges and Mr. Dart and Periwinkle. Don't blame the City. The cops are arresting them, but they go through the Cook County justice system.

  15. As a police officer, I can tell you right off the bat, cell phone companies WILL NOT give us any info on the owner of a phone. APPLE is the worst offender of the bunch. Oh yeah, and before you ask about warrants, no judge in the world will give the police a warrant for just a stolen phone.

  16. Is there anything we can do to get lawmakers (I'm already guessing Tunny will be of no help) to require Howard Brown and Center on Halsted to cooperate to a certain extent with aiding the community to stop the constant mayhem? Those arrested can just say HB or COH is their address but may be lying as long as there is no confirmation. Otherwise as a community we have to try to get both facilities moved or just shut down as a public nuisance. We need to start backing another aldermanic candidate asap. I nominate our CWB creator to start! COH and HB started with good intention but how long before the crimes turn to multiple murders?

  17. You would think that the theft of a cell phone could be elevated to a federal offense in some way. Something akin to mail interference or fraud, since phones interactions intersect state lines.
