Man, 46, Shot In West Lincoln Park This Morning

A 46-year-old Lincoln Park man is in “stable” condition after being shot near Damen and Diversey this morning. No one is in custody.

Witnesses said that a man yelled gang-related phrases from a Honda before shots rang out around 4:15AM.

The victim appeared to be struck by a single bullet that entered his left abdomen and then exited his right lower back. He is being treated at Illinois Masonic Medical Center

Police say the shooting occurred at 2001 West Diversey.

More To Come?

A source with a proven track record in gang-related issues tells us that the Latin Kings street gang is looking to make moves on the North Side, particularly around Western and Roscoe, Wrigleyville and Uptown.

  1. Note to the Latin Queens: stay out of our f***ing neighborhood!!!!! We have a nice quiet neighborhood. Don't even think about it!!!!!

  2. We miss the city, but we left Roscoe Village a couple of years ago anticipating that there were going to be problems with the closure of the police district at Belmont and Western. With the lack of police in the area, this gives the Kings all of the cover they need to take on the Insane Deuces, who have traditionally considered Roscoe Village to be their turf. Keep a close eye around Hamlin Park, and more specifically, Barry at Hoyne.

    1. This is the funniest comment I have seen on this blog, and I have been reading for years. Sad that the circumstances are not remotely humorous. CWB - the best reporting in town.

  5. To put it into context: I forgot the name of the public housing right there but that was historic LK territory and further west they are into it with MLDs, who have a solid foothold. It's not as bad as other neighborhoods but stuff can still happen. People were protesting the planned gentrification of the housing, with some residents remaining and arguing the area be considered a historic landmark. Maybe lathrop homes? Stay away from river walks. Still a lot of seedy people.

    2. Lathrope homes has always been Latin King territory with Insane deuces to the north at Hamlin park. To the south and west were Maniac Latin Disciptes and Satan Disicples. Most factions in that area are down and older turning into bums as gangs pension programs have dried up kinda like the city's lol

  6. What exactly does "make moves" mean? It doesn't sound good I'm sure the residents of Roscoe Village will be thrilled to hear it.

  7. There's a giant police station and police vehicle facility just south of Roscoe on Western. Let's hooe the LK fools are dumb enough to try to set up shop nearby.

    1. its a giant empty police station. Thanks to Rahm he moved them all out in a "consolidation". He has left the northside without police protection, while we pay the bills for cops to be sent to the southside and westside where the people HATE THE COPS. Meanwhile he has his own police detail protecting his house 24/7 while his neighbors are left to fend for themselves.

    2. You just aren't paying attention. There is a "giant police station and police vehicle facility" right in Boystown on Addison and blatant crime continually takes place within a 6-block radius of it. If you think these thugs fear the police, you have been asleep for the past 5 years. Welcome to 2016.

    3. Crime takes place literally in front of it. You are on your own.

  11. I never thought I'd say this but I hope this winter is subzero and lasts until June, though we might not even get a break then with the way things are going.
