STICKY FINGERS DEPT: Man Charged With Stealing Car; Woman Charged With Stealing $2,000 Worth Of Cubs Hats

A Winnebago County man is accused of trying to steal a Brazilian Bowl delivery driver’s car in Boystown, police said

Maney
The store delivery driver told police that he stepped into the restaurant and Belmont and Broadway to pick up a round of deliveries. When the driver came back outside, 24-year-old Tyler Maney was trying to drive his car away, according to court records.

Maney fled when the deliveryman jumped into the passenger seat and the restaurant worker gave chase, eventually tackling Maney near Buckingham and Broadway.

Maney of Loves Park, IL, is charged with criminal trespass to vehicle and receiving-possessing a stolen vehicle. He’s being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A Massive Hat Attack

Bowman
26-year-old Bonnie Bowman of Englewood is charged with stealing $2,016 worth of Cubs baseball hats from a Wrigleyville souvenir stand this month.

That's 56 hats, in case you're curious.

Cops went to Clark Street Sports, 3650 N. Clark Street, after employees reported that two men had just jumped into a gray Pontiac with a bunch of stolen hats around 3PM on August 15.

Officers stopped a similar vehicle that in the 3500 block of N. Fremont moments later and cops say they saw "numerous Cubs hats" sitting in the back seat--and Bowman driving. An employee of Clark Street Sports identified the merchandise, police said.

Bowman admitted to giving two men a ride to the store, but said they bailed out somewhere in Wrigleyville between the time the hats were stolen and her arrest.

She is charged with theft of lost or mislaid property.

  4. How was this property "lost" or "mislaid?" This reminds me of those "mislaid" catalytic converters from a couple of years back. Well, little Bonnie got busted cruising through the 'hood. Let's hope she doesn't get one of the lame-ass judges who issues wrist slaps for this sort of thing.

    1. No way of figuring out where exactly all the hats or whatever come from so it is lost or mislaid property

    1. No, it will probably be cheaper because there will be even more vendors out trying to make money in the mess of the playoffs.
