Man Sought After Lakeview Bank Robbery

Chicago police are looking for the man who robbed a local bank Tuesday afternoon and fled with an estimated $1,250.

The offender entered Byline Bank at 742 W. Diversey around 2:35PM and handed the teller a note in which he claimed to have a gun.

Witnesses and police who reviewed surveillance images describe the offender as a black man standing between 6-feet and 6’2” tall, with a slender to medium build. He wore a black White Sox hat, a dark hoodie, and jeans. He was last seen walking eastbound on Diversey.

The FBI is offering a reward for information that leads to the man’s arrest. The bureau may be contacted at 312-421-6700.

  1. WTF!??! How brazen. Just walk into a bank, no effort toward a disguise, do an entitled "Give me that," and stroll away down Diversey. This fool shouldn't be too hard to find.

    1. To clarify - they started issuing EBT (Electronic Bankrobbery Transfer) cards, which greatly streamlines the whole process.

    2. Hilarious.

  2. What did THIS "robber" simply do? Just walk in and say "Good Morning. I'd like to make a withdrawal?"

  3. But how's that possible, Byline has a no firearms sticker!

  4. They just changed the name of the bank form North Community Bank to Byline Bank. I remember over the past 7 or 8 years that North Community use to get hit at least twice a month. They claimed they were saving money by not hiring a security person. I guess insurance covered their losses. Good thing none of their employees were shot or injured. I took my money out a number of years ago and went to Bank Financial (Fullerton & Clark) where there is a security person in the lobby every day.

  5. So now we have banks on either side of the Days Inn getting robbed on a regular basis: 53rd and Byline.
