CLOSE ONE: Suspected Burglars Narrowly Escape Cops In Boystown; Break-In Reports Continue

Chicago police came very close to catching a group of suspected burglars Tuesday afternoon in Boystown.

Police (center) search for burglary suspects in Boystown Tuesday.
Two citizens who share an alley in the 600 blocks of Aldine and Buckingham reported suspicious activity around 1PM.

First, a woman in the 600 block of Aldine reported that a suspicious person snuck into her building when a FedEx driver opened the front door.

Less than 3 minutes later, a man who lives almost directly behind the woman on Buckinham reported two suspicious men lurking in the alley near a garage.

When police arrived, the two men sped off in a black 2011 Ford Escape. They were in such a hurry, they left the tailgate open and “a bunch of debris” spilled out, police said.

Officers subsequently learned that the vehicle was recently reported stolen from the 900 block of Fullerton in Lincoln Park.

Cops noticed two open doors on a nearby apartment building, but they were not able to determine if anything had been stolen from residences or storage areas.

  1. Apparently no police report was filled for a break in that occurred in my building's detached garage over the Thanksgiving holiday. Some broke in, smashed one window of each of the the cars inside, and took items of negligible value in the 900 block of Cornelia.

  2. Do you have the license of the stolen vehicle? This way if any readers see it the can call 911.

    1. That's why I left Chicago altogether. Lakeview was the last place I lived and they all told me it was "better". Well I beg to differ.

  4. What defines unlawful entry? Does this mean a door was left unlocked?

    1. Sometimes. Windows, too. Any method of entry that doesn't require breaking or forcing something open.

  5. FYI ~~ in another destructive, useless thug update:

'Tis the season .. should be on 10pm NBC news tonight:

In the video, which was recorded Tuesday at about 3 a.m., a man dressed in a black sweater and khakis can be seen walking down the street near the South Port Corridor. The man then tried to open a locked gate to one home, but was unsuccessful. The video goes on to show the man walking next door and ripping off garland and decorations from the fence and porch.

    1. Were it not for holiday decorations, it would not have been newsworthy.
The censored media does not care about crow bars, or that anything at all on the North Side is amiss.
