NEW: Hit With Brick After Pride Parade, Man Heads To Surgery

UPDATE DECEMBER 13, 2015: The photo that formerly accompanied this story has been removed at the victim's request.
-------------------
The Chicago man seen here is scheduled for reconstructive surgery today after an offender hit him in the face with a brick following Sunday's Chicago Pride Parade.

Friends of the man have set up a web page to wish him well.

“This happened right in front of the Blarney Stone [at Newport and Clark],” a friend of the man told us. “Unfortunately, he now has to undergo reconstructive surgery for his broken jaw. Such a terrible story and sadly one of many from this weekend.”

The victim is said to be in good spirits, but his jaw was broken in at least two places, according to friends.

According to a supporter of the victim, he filed a police report after the offender fled in a taxi cab.

CWB is withholding the man's name and the web site that his friends set up to voice their support. We wish him a full and speedy recovery.

    1. Except for the media you're reading right now?

  2. Sickening. You get a brick in the face for going to a parade. This is why most people reading this blog stay away from all of this, wrong place at wrong time with all of the drunk thugs running around and smash. Now this poor guy gets to spend $10 grand plus and the next year on all of this.

  3. What do we have to do to get the parade moved? Throw a brick at a few politicians? It's only time before someone gets killed.

  4. Fuck that noise. I'd send a bill to Tunney.Or Tunney and Rahm and let them split the cost. They have jobs, they can afford it.

  5. I'm so tired of this constant crap in Chicago, on guard all the time when I am walking around, particularly at night.

  6. Any further details on the incident yet? Was this during a fight, or was it just a random, unprovoked attack? The friend notes that it happened right in front of a bar (not surprising), but doesn't say if there was some kind of altercation, or if the assailant just walked up and smacked the guy with a brick.

    1. Not sure why the victim's identity and site is being withheld. There's something more about this story, I believe.

    1. We'll probably see 100+ shot this weekend. I plan to stay away from "large gatherings." Keeping it very low key this weekend.

      Ya'll be safe now!

  10. "Was this during a fight, or was it just a random, unprovoked attack?"

I wish people would stop misusing the word "random". If the attacker would have thrown the brick even if the victim looked like the attacker's father, then it would have been random - otherwise, there was some bias involved, most likely very serious bias.
