HEAD CASE: Lakeview Burglar Arrested; Cops Seek Victims

Detectives want to find the owner of this men's ring
from the Fenger High School class of 1966.
Area North detectives are trying to identify more burglary victims after arresting a man they believe pulled off numerous residential break-ins around the 19th district.

Dauta Head, 46, of the 5300 block of S. Indiana in the Washington Park neighborhood, is said by police to have specialized in burglarizing garden-level apartments and multi-unit buildings since July.

Police say they recovered "numerous" items after arresting Head, including jewelry, cameras and laptops. Other items are known to have been sold at area pawn shops, cops say.

Head (Cook Co. Sheriff's Office)
Investigators are "specifically" interested in finding the owner of a 1966 men's class ring from Fenger High School. The ring is engraved with the letters DJB.

Detectives may be contacted by calling 312.744.8263 and asking for Area North robbery/burglary/theft investigators.

Head is being held in lieu of 25,000 bail.

  1. Hey what's the deal with that Hondstooth bar on Clark and Roscoe?
Is that a cop bar? There is always the same cops off duty drinking in there I've noticed.
Do they drink for free or what?

    1. If they are off duty, who cares. They have a right to drink wherever they please. Good job to Area North detectives.

    3. So if you are an officer that works in this area when you are off duty you can drink for free in these bars??
I don't think you could be fair while on duty handling a job at that bar if you drink there for free. So No you don't have a right to drink wherever you want and not look shady..

  2. Police Officers in the area and people are complaining about their presence!
No wonder Police Officers, don't want to live or work in the area, its because of ignorant comments such as these!
May you citizens who complain about Police Officers hanging out in the area have more of Pookie sticking a gun in your face instead!
See the "masked map icons" on a CAPS police map!

    1. This topic has been approached in the comments before--by police officers, not civilians. It's probably the same thing here.

  4. This seems like a useless, off-topic (and very negative) comment section to me.

    1. Yes. Comments take more of our time and create more aggravation than they sometimes seem worth. We've often considered just turning the option off. Maybe we'll require registration or something. But, yes.
