ANOTHER STICK-UP: Man Robbed At Gunpoint Along Southport Corridor

Southport & Cornelia, as seen on Google Street View.
Yet another victim reported being robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday morning, just a couple of blocks from the scenes of two weekend hold-ups. No one was immediately arrested in today's incident.

The victim sought help at Lange's Lounge, 3500 N. Southport, around 1:20 this morning after being robbed by a man armed with a semi-automatic handgun. The offender, who fled southbound on Southport, could not be located by police.

Offender description: Male, black, 22-year-old, short fade hair style, 5'8" tall, skinny, wearing a gray hoodie and loose pants. He made off with the victim's cell phone and wallet.

Over the weekend, a man was arrested in the 1200 block of Cornelia after a woman reported being robbed at gunpoint nearby. Another woman was robbed early Saturday morning in the 3600 block of Magnolia. No one was arrested in that case.

Juvenile Arrested For Robbery Warrant

A 19th district officer's instincts paid off after he stopped a 15-year-old boy in the 1100 block of Newport shortly after 3 o'clock this morning. A name check revealed that the teen has an outstanding warrant for robbery.

The teen, whose Facebook page shows him posing with large amounts of cash and apparently fake handguns, was taken into custody for investigation.

The arrest took place about two blocks from the scene of this morning's robbery on Southport.

  1. "a 15-year-old boy in the 1100 block of Newport shortly after 3 o'clock this morning"

Let's just say the root of the problem begins right there.

    1. Certainly his parents were concerned with his whereabouts at that late hour, frantically dialing friends, family, the CPD, and hospitals in an effort to locate him.

  2. With the added focus by the CPD on the cesspool known as Belmont, it appears that these mouth-breathing parasitic criminals are now expanding operations to the Southport Corridor.

Anyone want to make a wager that this thug ran to a CTA stop?? Seems like it would be a good idea to mount high-definition cameras at each CTA station entrance....that'd snap pictures of 95% of these losers as they scurry away.

  3. Good job officers, thanks for being out there

  4. Excellent work, officers, and excellent work, CWB, as always.
The 15-year-old's parents need to be held accountable for him being out at 3am, and probably far from his home.
And having a Facebook page showing money (how many 15 year olds have money, besides Justin Beiber?) and guns (real or fake) is just a dumb-ass move on his part. Now it is time for him to reap what he has sown (which no doubt will be a slap on the wrist from some idiot judge).

  5. Good job to the CPD in 019 for catching this kid. 15 years old, out at 3am. I would say it's parenting failure but I'm going to wager that the parents aren't really involved at all.

  6. Apparently they're not parents.

  7. We have Helmont. Now we have Hellport.
