OUT OF STYLE: Thug With $1000 Coat Busted, Cops Say

Chicago police believe they have captured the mugger with the $1,000 coat, however no charges have been filed as of Friday afternoon.

Officers took the suspect into custody for a warrant investigation after conducting a street stop at 4:37 Thursday morning near Halsted and Belmont. Based on the rather rare Pelle Pelle brand coat that he was wearing, detectives were called in to investigate further.

Early Wednesday morning, a woman was beaten and robbed of her purse near Lakewood and Henderson by a man who was wearing a, uh, similar garment.

An incident last Thursday in which an employee of the 7-Eleven at Broadway and Waveland was battered by a "youth" who allegedly frequents the Center on Halsted has been upgraded to attempted robbery.
