WRIGLEYVILLE: Cops Recap Sexual Assault Case

At last night's CAPS meeting for Wrigleyville and Boystown, 19th district Commander Elias Voulgaris gave an update on the criminal sexual assault incident that allegedly occurred in the men's bathroom of a Clark Street bar this weekend.

DNAInfo Chicago has a good review of his information. Highlights:
• "This not a serial rapist or anything like that. This does not appear to be a random act."
• Irish Oak is "cooperating fully."
• Another woman who reported a sexual assault in the 3500 block of Clark two weekends ago has recanted and her case is closed.
As CWB reported first yesterday, the police department does not believe that there is a "rapist loose" in the area.

  1. Unless the rapist in the Irish Oak incident is currently in custody, there is still a "rapist loose" in the area. Period.

  2. @Anonymous Unless, of course, the sexual assault never actually happened.

  3. In the 90's they had the CHA Midnight Basketball League that showed a remarkable drop in crime during games. Maybe Lakeview and Wrigleyville can adapt something similar for the turbulent youths?

    1. No!!!!! Not a good idea. This will only bring MORE thugs into the area!!! They might be engaged and even "behave" *during* such an activity, but what about the before and after? No. Bad idea. Baaaaad idea.
