TIDBITS: Burglar Freaks Out; Wallet Lost In "Bookstore"

Last Tuesday, we told you about a young teen boy who was apparently beaten up and robbed in an alley near Roscoe and Janssen, about a block from the Southport L station. Police spoke to a witness upon arrival, but could not find the boy.

We have now learned that a report was later filed in this matter. The incident is recorded as a strong arm robbery in case HX164295.

Burglar Bolts

A mailman noticed a burglar alarm sounding as he approached a home in the 3600 block of Wolcott around 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon. At the same time, a man opened the home's front door, saw the postal worker, slammed the door, then ran out the back.

Sensing that something wasn't quite right with all of that, the mailman called 911.

Officers arrived, entered the still-open back door, and secured the home. A burglary was confirmed.

Several units toured the area in search of the offender, who is described as a heavyset Hispanic man, in his late 30’s or early 40’s. He had facial hair, carried a satchel, and wore a dark coat with blue jeans. He was last seen running westbound on Patterson.

  1. My thoughts were correct on this one. It's happening so frequently, I'm sure his parents told him do get home as soon as possible when it does.

  2. Poor kid, how scary for him. He probably hurried to get home quickly and so that his parents could take him to police. Beaten up for a fucking phone.

  3. Monday morning I saw about 5 units patrolling from Roscoe south to Belmont on Kenmore and Seminary, all within ny 10 minute dog walk. Any clue?

    1. Hi Dole, We don't have anything significant in our notes from Monday morning. We can dig a little deeper if you can offer an approximate time. Thank you for being a part of CWB!

    2. It happened to be around 7am-ish. I walk north on Kenmore up to Roscoe, and down Seminary. Two different cars were circling, I believe!

    3. Hi again, Dole. We could not find anything significant in the area around that time. Thank you for checking with us!

As many banks and bank security photos, surprised it's taking so long to get 'em.
