  1. It's 1:30pm and I only now see cars slowly being allowed to get off at the Belmont off ramp. There are 3 cop cars I can see from my window.
Thanks for the heads up! I think I'll stay in today. With that and St. Paddy's, my apartment is looking better and better (sadly, more and more).

Seems to be a police chase, that culminated on LSD at Fullerton of a fugitive from Georgia.
IOW, it has nothing to do with the neighborhood's crime wave nor St Pat's day. If it did, of course the S-T would NOT report it.

  4. Residents of nearby high rises, please report!

  5. I look out at Belmont Harbor (and the drive) and have not seen any cars since the ones exiting at 1:30pm got off the off ramp. That is a long time for LSD to be shut down!

  6. Oh, I forgot to mention, it is 6:05pm and no cars on LSD.

  7. Helicopters have been annoyingly hovering over the area for way too many hours.
It's time to end this nonsense! Allowing a major highway and large swath of the Northside to be disrupted by this is ridiculous.

    1. Yes, so you are not inconvienced let's order a cop to execute someone, I'm sure they won't mind living with that weight knowing that you weren't inconvenienced

  8. Ridiculous indeed, let's instead let the public continue to drive, run and ride bike through that area so they can be in the middle of the combat zone.

  9. I live on LDS, just south of Addison. As late as 5:00pm, I saw a few cars going north on the Drive, but none going south.

  10. 9:15pm - LSD still closed off and I can still see police cars near the Fullerton stop. Looks like Cannon Drive is also closed off.

  12. 10:15pm...I am just seeing the first Belmont 77 bus driving south on inner LSD. Still don't see cars on the outer drive but according to the Lakeview Patch, the suspect is now in custody. I also saw quite a few cars speeding NORTH of Belmont on LSD around 9:30pm-9:50pm-ish.

  13. A special shout-out to IDOT on Sunday...you know those signs on the highway touting how many people died thus far this year in traffic accidents? Great. Perhaps instead of communicating that stat, they should put up some relevant information such as "stay the hell off of LSD as it is blocked." This would have helped save me one hour of my life yesterday.

    1. Or perhaps you could watch the news, or listen to radio, or check on social media, or any other of the hundreds of sources that YOU could have done to save YOURSELF time... Not everything can be done for you you know

    3. "A special shout-out to IDOT on Sunday" How about "Stay The Hell Off Of LSD. Murderer Sleeping In Car Past 9 Hours" At least the Chicago law department caught a break. Not in Texas or Florida. Half hour, tops.

  14. No, he is correct. In other cities they will block off entrances to roads and freeways when there is an obvious catastrophe to prevent more vehicles to add to the mess.

A 1.5 hour wait on LSD because of a fender bender along with Cubs traffic in the afternoon is unacceptable. People just literally turned their engines off and waited...and waited...and waited.
