MR.KNIFE GUY: Walgreens Offender Strikes Again

A man who has repeatedly pulled a knife and robbed neighborhood Walgreens stores of liquor struck again this evening at Belmont and Sheffield.

It does not appear that any merchandise was taken in tonight's incident.

Police responded to the Belmont store after the menace threatened an employee with a knife at 5:55PM Saturday.

The assailant, described as male, black, wearing a black coat, a black skull cap, black shoes, and carrying a white bag, was last seen walking eastbound on Belmont.

Nearby Walgreens locations have been given a heads up that the man is in our area.

Tonight's incident is recorded as an aggravated assault with a knife. Case #TBD.

  2. Just a crime of survival? Probably would be according to the dude who showed up at the CAPS meeting in November representing the social service agencies stating that stealing food was not really a crime crime...or something like that. Uggh.

    1. One would think if it were a "crime of survival", they'd grab a loaf of bread and flee, not a bottle of liquor while threatening people with a knife or gun.

I guess the "social services" agencies in the immediate vicinity aren't earning their pay but this is "just city life and these thing just happen", right?

  3. And within spitting distance of a certain character who works in 3223 N. Sheffield Ave who seems determined to return Boystown to the mess he found it in circa-1980, selling Belmont his buildings et al. That'll be his legacy, but no one will put up a statue (but we can put up a billboard).
