REBOOT: Cops Track Down iPad Thieves In Boystown

More nice work to report today by 19th district officers who tracked down two iPad thieves in the neighborhood around 11:30AM.

A caller reported that two men had stolen an iPad from a building in the 3300 block of N. Sheffield.

The first offender was described as male, black, about 20 years old, 5'11" tall, with a dark complexion and dreads. His accomplice, also a male, black about 20 years old, was a bit shorter and he had an orthopedic boot on one leg.

Officers located the suspects on Belmont near Halsted. The offender who was able to run did so, but not for long. He was caught and arrested outside of the Marshall's department store at 3160 N. Halsted. No chase was required for the suspect with leg trouble.

The victim's iPad was recovered and returned to its rightful owner.

This incident is recorded as a theft of under $500 in Chicago Police Department case #HW476453.

  2. Whomever writes your article headlines (REBOOT, Rocky Road, etc...) needs to bring themselves a bit......too funny! Keep it on point CWB, and by doing so you'll help keep the credibility of this blog intact. Too many other blogs turn into ignorant political blowhard rants that shift attention away from the real issue(s). Stay on track, and keep up the great work!!!

We promise! The good news is that we're a remarkably unpolitical bunch, so we couldn't write about that stuff even if we wanted to. It's all about the crime and, hopefully, the success in restoring safety to our neighborhood. It's going to stay that way. And we know we can count on you and our other readers to keep us on the straight and narrow.

Thank you for being a part of this and taking the time to post your comment.

  4. I think this happened at Costello's sandwich shop. They use an iPad for a register and I wouldn't be surprised if an employee went in the bank and this fool grabbed it.
I live across the street and saw CPD out there and I never see them parked over here for no reason.

  5. This should have been charged as a theft over $500! The officers shouldn't give the scums any breaks! We all know a iPad costs more than $500. Be tuff when charging the criminals. If the charges get pleaded down, so be it. Let the word get out to these creeps that if you pull this kind of crap in Lakeview your going down!

  6. Cops have to get sign off from States Atty to file felony charges.
