MISSED OPPORTUNITY: Robbery/Theft Duo Strikes Again, Escapes

UPDATE 13 OCTOBER 2013 6:52PM: Good news. Two offenders were arrested near O'Hare airport this morning, either in the 16th district or the nearby suburb of Harwood Heights.

At 11:48 Saturday night, CWB's suspicions were confirmed. Two men in a black car have been targeting women in a west Lakeview theft and robbery spree this weekend.

Four possibly-related robberies and thefts are plotted on this Google map.
The latest incident is to the far left on Addison at Leavitt.
Unfortunately, the police department did not connect the dots when this 911 call came in and it was handled as a simple theft matter. The response was slow and limited to a single unit.

Just 35 minutes after we issued our alert regarding two previous incidents involving a mixed-race duo that was using a black vehicle to get away from multiple robberies, they struck again.

Callers at Claus's Tavern, 2159 W. Addison called 911 just before midnight Saturday to report that a male white wearing a red Blackhawks shirt and a blue or black jacket walked inside and stole two purses. He then fled in a small black car with tinted windows. A male black was sitting in the getaway car's passenger seat.

Without going into details, CWB can state with certainty that these offenders are responsible for at least one of the incidents reported in our earlier story.

Great news, Anonymous. Thank you for the update. They were sloppy operators. Hopefully they had a collection of traceable proceeds in their possession.
