OFF THE RECORD: A Crash That Never Offiically Happened

Here's a gem. The Tribune reports that Mayor Rahm Emanuel happened upon an accident in which a truck apparently caused three bicyclists to crash in Wicker Park this morning.

Our favorite part of the story?
Two ambulances and a fire engine reported to the scene, but nobody was hurt seriously enough to require hospitalization, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. The Chicago Police Department had no record of the crash.
Two ambulances, a fire engine, and the mayor's Chicago Police Department protective detail were there, but the police department has no record of this event. And they want us to believe them when they say that crime is "down."

  1. If there is no record, it did not happen.

  2. Hey, and what was doing over there anyway? A PR stunt is all this is. He should come to Boystown and walk around at night. We could use the CPD officers that are protecting him.

  3. If you don't talk about it or if there's not a record, it doesn't exist. Our whole city operates this way.

  4. I don't believe this for a second. Don't trust anything the Murder Mayor says.

  5. Yes, the whole city operates the same way. I called 3-1-1 about a dead tree in the spring. They gave me a tracking number and said I could use it to see the status as to tree removal. I called the other day to see what was going on concerning the removal. I gave the operator the tracking number they had given me and after about 30 seconds the operator said there was nothing on file for that number.

No number found = No dead tree.

  7. Guess who want to consolidate police beats and cut the department's budget? He may very well be a one term mayor.

Cappleman is meeting with our co-op board next week...I'll be sure to ask him about this.

  8. Prince Rahm will be mayor as long as he wants to be. He's one of the dirtiest politicians that walked the earth so he's in full control of everyone needed to make sure he always wins. And the people of Chicago never learn.

  10. I don't know if the mayor was actually there, but I did see cop cars at that location (Milwaukee &Chicago) at that time this morning. I just assumed a bike was involved.

My God!! That's outrageous! What is he thinking? That just cannot stand .. why, so he can spend the $$$$ acquiring properties and the campaign for his dream casino and expanding McCormick for the visitors and tourists?? Unreal .....

  12. Oh, please. This is just our "perception" of an event, and after all, each of us is "just one person" and if we complain, we'll be screamed at to immediately "shut up, shut up." Remember?
