OVERNIGHT: Phone Jacking, Robbery Attempt, Cops Depleted

A man reported that an unknown male, Hispanic wearing red pants punched him in the face and attempted to take his wallet outside of Caribou Coffee at Cornelia and Halsted around 3 o'clock this morning. CWB cannot locate a police report for this incident.

Around 5:15AM, a man near the Addison Red Line station reported that two offenders took his phone and $20. The offenders were last seen going eastbound on Addison in an older model white 4-door Mercury.  The offenders are described as:
1) male, black, wearing red shirt and jean shorts
2) male, black, wearing a black Spandex body suit
This incident was classified as a theft under case #HW403964

And, yes, for the third morning in a row, the district ran out of available radio cars. The RAP (Radio Assignment Pending) status was in effect from 5:25AM until 6:01AM.

That means that every morning since the Friday's community march against crime, our neighborhood went copless for varying amounts of time overnight.

  1. How can the 19th District be out of cars and police officers ? Ald Tunny promised additional officers in the form of "Entertainment Cars", "Bicycle Patrols" and "Police Saturation Teams". Where are they ? Hello ? Hello ? Ald. Tunny ? ? ?
