OVERNIGHT BLOTTER: Beatings Galore

Thursday, August 8, 2013, 11:30PM
A man's wallet was reportedly stolen at Irish Oak bar, 3511 N. Clark in Wrigleyville. The offender, described as male, black, and wearing a white t-shirt and army pants ran northbound on Clark with the victim in hot pursuit.  The victim gave up the chase and decided to just go home to Wicker Park. No report filed at this time.

A caller reported seeing two offenders, described as male, black, one dressed in black, the other in red, beat up a man on the street at Clark and Belmont, then walk away. The caller was unable to give additional details because they ended the call when the perpetrators apparently started to come back in his direction. There is no indication the the assigned officer made contact with a victim or the caller.

A man called police from the safety of his home to report that he had just been "surrounded" and beaten by two male, blacks as he walked past Roscoe and Broadway. The victim was able to break away and run home.

Illinois Masonic Medical Center reported that they had a patient in the ER who had been beaten overnight near Roscoe and Elaine Place. It is not clear if this is the victim from the 3:09AM report. Case #HW399763.

  1. Victims not filing reports are to some extent culpable for future attacks on others. The police rely so much on these numbers, as we have seen this week at the meetings. That is their huge defense. To hell with your wanting to get home because you're smashed at 3am. Take 30 minutes or more to help yourself and others.
