THIS IS BELMONT: The Police Lockup Is Next. Doors Open On The Right At The Police Lockup.

It happened. It really, really happened.

Last Friday morning, we were giddy after hearing the assignment an overnight sergeant gave to a police squadrol:
Go keep an eye on [the Belmont Red Line station]. Keep it clear. And if they start gathering by the L, let them know that if they are not using CTA services, they will be arrested for trespassing.
This morning, the sergeant and a number of other units went from warning the riff raff to arresting them. "Several" people were hauled in for trespassing at the Belmont Red Line station at 4:48AM.

Small steps in the right direction. Thank you, officers.

  1. I have a sneaking suspicion they suddenly realize the residents are beginning to rise up.

Doesn't help when bad press starts to hit. Well, that and pitchforks and torches being seen, as well :)

Keep on calling the office to make sure the 8/7 meeting happens. Was told they are having trouble with scheduling software. Don't really believe that.

  4. "Rise up"? More like "woke up".... at least 4 years too late. Now don't be seen flashing those expensive flip-flops at the CAPS meeting.

  5. Fantastic; looks like NYC tactics are finally being used here. Make these ne'er do-weller's feel uncomfortable and they will leave. Look the other way, and it just mulitplies.
