I was just out there and it is not bad. There are a ton of people but nobody that I saw where getting out of hand.
From TV - sounds like Clark Street is getting a little out of control from the celebrating :)
Hockey fans seem to be reasonable. The Bulls celebrations were worse.
Seemed to be over-prepared for this, but nowhere to be found when needed nightly on Belmont between Broadway and Sheffield. For that reason, when I visit the area around Labor Day, no way will I be out after dark nor before 8am. Since 2001, I have enjoyed late night visits to Lucky Horseshoe and Steamworks, and early breakfast at Nookies Tree. They won't get my money this year.
"Seemed to be over-prepared for this, but nowhere to be found when needed nightly on Belmont between Broadway and Sheffield. "Funny that ...
The law enforcement agencies seemed prepared. After all, they cancelled a citizen's meeting re: the new "hotel" so they could use their break room at the police precinct to plan. That was at 5pm. No, they were nowhere near prepared for this level of mayhem. Where are the cops all over the area when seriously needed? This is a travesty. I imagine after last weekend's post-pride thuggings, and last night's crowd behavior, tourism and tourist dollars will rapidly begin to dry up. I will make a prediction: Lakeview/Boystown will resemble Detroit within one year. Mark my words.
I spoke too soon above, being from out of town. The cloud with the silver lining is that many businesses well into Lincoln Park were hit by vandalism. Maybe now they will get off their duffs, stop trying to hide bad publicity, and hold their corrupt, arrogant, and stupid Aldermen, Mayor, and Police Precincts' feet to the fire.
This would, in NO how - no WAY, happen in Detroit. If the police weren't there, a civilian would put it to rest. There are 2 Pride fests in "Detroit". One in the suburbs and one on their riverfront in the city proper. NOTHING like what happens in $hitcago happens there. My friends that usually visit me in Chicago for Pride did the Detroit thing last year then went on to Columbus. They didn't even mention Chicago. I didn't have to tell them about your ISSUES either. It's made national and international headlines. Ignorant posts from Minooka boys such as yours is what keeps you people and gays 40 years behind the rest of the nation. Yeah, censor this.
